Coffee in the brightest corner you have

One cup, one window, ten honest minutes. The smallest morning ritual, and one of the most reliable.

There is a version of the morning coffee that does a little more than wake you up: the one you drink in the brightest spot in the house, with your eyes on the day outside.

It costs nothing and changes nothing about your schedule. You are going to make the coffee anyway. You are only choosing where to stand while it cools.

Ten honest minutes by a window is a small thing you can give yourself before the day starts asking for things back.

Do it for a week and it becomes the part of the morning you protect. Light, warmth and a pause, all in the time it takes to finish a cup.
